Waiting Game

Sooooo close now. The floor guy comes on Monday!!!! Then we will have BEDROOMS. And the rest of our home can get somewhat organized into a home. We STILL have stacked mattresses in our living room, hallway, and room we're using as a bedroom, dressers in both living rooms and dining room, and toys all over our living space. I can't wait to share the finished off rooms.

In the meantime I've spent A LOT of time in front of the woodstove crocheting. Here are a few things I have finished off and photographed from my Etsy site. I have more I just haven't had time to take photos. Matt says I'm a little factory sitting there. Just thought today felt like a sharing kind of day.

A Hat Request

I had my first request for these cute little hats I make at my Etsy shop.

What a fun process this has been!

LittleGreyCatDesigns.Etsy.Com contacted me through NoonToTwo.Etsy.Com and told me she liked the Green Hat I have at my shop but would like it in brown and shared some of her likes with me.

Then I went SHOPPING! I found the brown she liked and four other material to coordinate.

I took pictures of the fabric and shared with her. She got to choose the one she liked best.

These hats are reversible and the top stitching finishes them off nicely.

I will be making some more adult and child size hats and listing them at my shop as they come together. Can't go to the fabric store and buy only what you came for! :)

Toy Ball Gift - Label

I kept it simple. Not sure if it's not too plain, but it's being delivered TODAY and I'm not fussing with it anymore.

I wanted to share this with you in case anyone could use the baby footprint for your own stuff.

While I was brainstorming what to do this memory popped into my head. Way back when, when I rode the bus to school, my girlfriend and I use to make these baby footprints all over the windows.

It's very simple and quite effective. Just fist your hand like this. (Not easy taking a picture of this side of your own hand!) Dab the backside of your fist in paint and use a finger to add the toes.

Ta Da! So easy, so cute.

My Friend's New Baby's Gift

So, here it is . . . FINALLY! I love to make things and I'm doing so all the time, so why is it when I want to make something special for someone, it's always LATE!?!? I hate myself for that.

My girlfriend had her second son on February 3rd. I wanted to make her something that she one, wouldn't get from someone else, and two, wouldn't already have (being the second boy and all.)

I originally wanted to put the baby's birth info on each of them. (ie, the red ball would say the baby's weight, the orange ball would say the birth date, and so on.) I attempted three or four times before I decided I was just ruining the simplicity of these colorful toys.

The bucket that works SO perfectly is from a tub of pretzel sticks purchased at BJ's. I just used a utility blade, sliced the sides, burned the ends of my ribbon, slipped it through, and tied knots on the inside to make the handle. I played around with different ideas to decorate the bucket as well, but come to the same conclusion. Simple is better here. I'm thinking about slipping a piece of scrapbook paper with his name or whatever. Then they can just remove it because I do love how you can see the balls through the bucket.

I can't wait to deliver the baby's gift. I'm sure he'll love it (eventually . . . sooner than we think!) It amazes me how all four of my children ranging from one years to seven years just love this toy.
